I have not stayed at Wallacia hotel, but I have been to the hotel for Drinks and meals and events. The 4 times I have been there the meals have been inedible the bowl of chips are so cooked I could have broken a tooth, the nacho meat leaves oil on the top of your mouth and if you order a pizza ask for it undercooked if you want to bite thru it. The last time they had Karaoke on so my children were thrilled to have a try they waited there turn in the line each round, but because the locals complained the Karaoke host has been removed, seriously what is wrong with this place. We were asked to leave a 9:30 because of the kids that's fine no drama there. I'm just not sure why the security guards yes plural 2 of them walked us to our car. We didn't want to stay at you hotel we would rather spend our money at a family friendly venue. -5 ☆.
I wanted to score 2.5 stars but there is no half score. It's not a 3 in my book. We have stayed here every January for many years to attend a recurring family event held in the area each year. There isn't really anywhere else to stay (reasonably priced with own room and bathroom) in the Wallacia or Silverdale areas. We do not eat at the hotel except for the cereal provided for breakfast the next morning. As it's only for 1 night each year so the state of the room or hotel is not a massive issue for us as long as it's clean; however it is true that some serious money needs to be spent to restore this hotel back to it's former glory. Our most recent visit was January 2018. We had been given a honeymoon suite (no, we didn't ask for it but it was a nice touch) which was quite spacious and had a large balcony which stretched across the front entrance. The bed was comfortable and the room and bathroom was reasonably clean, although the carpets do need a thorough cleansing. Some of the curtains didn't close properly and had hooks missing - a little annoying as the hotel outdoor lights then shine into the room at night. The aircon struggled with the 40 degree heat but it was still better than being outdoors! The hot tap in the shower malfunctioned twice ... it was scalding and putting the cold tap on full didn't help; but then seemed to correct itself after a few minutes. Still, for the price we accept it.
